200 kW – 1000 kW · Heavy Sand & Dust Filtration with Massive Torque Reserve
Diesel Generators for Mining & Quarry Operations
Mine sites are hard on engines: abrasive dust, long hot hours, and crushers that slam a big motor straight across the line. The sets we send to these jobs run on a heavy cast-iron block with a two-stage desert air filter and an oversized fuel-water separator, because that is what survives a shift on a nickel or limestone face.
Most off-grid extraction runs the set as prime power for hours at a time, so we quote on the prime rating and leave torque in hand for direct-on-line starting. Tell us the largest motor and how it starts, and we will size the set so the conveyor and the pump do not fight each other at start-up.
What this duty asks of the set
These are the three points we check first when a mining, quarrying & off-grid extraction enquiry reaches us. They decide the rating, the cooling package and the control hardware long before price enters the conversation.
01
Heavy-duty 10.34L to 39.58L cast iron engine block resists structural vibration.
02
Dual-stage desert air pre-filters and oversized fuel-water separators.
03
Supports frequent direct-on-line (DOL) startup of crushers and slurry pumps.
Configurations we usually quote for this duty: TFW-200, TFW-400, TFW-800.
Recommended generator sets
Catalogue models that carry this duty run from 400 kW to 900 kW prime. Outside that band we build to the same specification on request — send the load and the site conditions and an engineer will size it. Each card opens the full datasheet, fuel curve and dimensions.

Power ratings follow ISO 8528-1:2018 (Prime PRP / Standby ESP), and the fuel figures are stated at ISO 3046-1:2002 standard reference conditions. Both are confirmed unit by unit on our load bank, and the test record ships with the set. Standby figures are the engine's factory standby rating from the model spectrum table — never a computed 110% of the rated output. Noise figures are typical open-type reference values, not a guaranteed sound-power level.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can one set start a large crusher motor directly on line?▼
A direct-on-line start pulls three to six times full-load current for a few seconds. The set needs enough torque reserve and alternator reactance headroom to hold voltage through that inrush. Send us the motor kW and the starting method and we will confirm the smallest set that starts it without tripping.
What filtration do you fit for dusty sites?▼
We fit a two-stage desert air pre-filter ahead of the standard element, plus an oversized fuel-water separator. On request the radiator can be specified for high ambient and the canopy sealed against dust ingress so the set can run continuously outdoors between services.
Do you supply prime-rated sets for continuous off-grid running?▼
Yes. Prime (PRP) rating per ISO 8528-1 allows unlimited hours at variable load with ten percent overload for one hour in every twelve. For a mine running the set as its main supply we quote prime and add the service interval and the spares list that match the duty.
