300 kW – 2200 kW · Tropical 50°C Radiators & Anti-Corrosive Marine Protection
Diesel Generators for Islands & Marine Harbors
Salt air kills ordinary sets fast. For island power and harbor installations we use an anti-salt-spray epoxy paint system, stainless exterior hardware, and a tropicalized heavy-copper radiator sized for ambient up to 50 degrees C, because an island afternoon in the tropics will find any weak point in the cooling system.
Above a few hundred kilowatts the practical answer is a containerised set: an ISO 20 ft or 40 ft container housing that ships as one unit, lifts straight onto the barge, and keeps the salt and the weather off the engine and the switchgear. Tell us the landing conditions and the load profile and we will recommend open, silent or containerised.
What this duty asks of the set
These are the three points we check first when a island electrification & marine harbors enquiry reaches us. They decide the rating, the cooling package and the control hardware long before price enters the conversation.
01
Anti-salt-spray epoxy paint coating and stainless steel exterior hardware.
02
Tropicalized heavy copper radiators for ambient temperatures up to 50°C.
03
ISO 20ft / 40ft containerized weatherproof housings for harsh sea winds.
Configurations we usually quote for this duty: TFW-300, TFW-900, TFW-1500 (Containerized).
Recommended generator sets
Catalogue models that carry this duty run from 1100 kW to 2000 kW prime. Outside that band we build to the same specification on request — send the load and the site conditions and an engineer will size it. Each card opens the full datasheet, fuel curve and dimensions.

Power ratings follow ISO 8528-1:2018 (Prime PRP / Standby ESP), and the fuel figures are stated at ISO 3046-1:2002 standard reference conditions. Both are confirmed unit by unit on our load bank, and the test record ships with the set. Standby figures are the engine's factory standby rating from the model spectrum table — never a computed 110% of the rated output. Noise figures are typical open-type reference values, not a guaranteed sound-power level.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you protect the set from salt corrosion?▼
Island and harbor units get an anti-salt-spray epoxy paint system, stainless-steel exterior hardware, and protection on the exhaust and cooling circuits. Combined with a tropical radiator rated to about 50 degrees C ambient, this is what keeps a coastal set running reliably between services.
When should I choose a containerised set?▼
For installations roughly 500 kW and above, or any site exposed to sea wind and rain, a containerised set is usually the cleanest answer. The ISO 20 ft or 40 ft container housing ships as one lift-ready unit and shelters the engine, the alternator and the switchgear from the weather.
Can one set carry a whole island or harbor load?▼
It depends on the peak and the diversity of the load. For a growing island supply we often recommend two or more sets in parallel so that maintenance does not mean a blackout. Send the load profile and we will propose a rating and a paralleling arrangement that matches the demand curve.
